08/11/2006: Care Fees Planning

Clients are advised that from November 2006, any adviser who wishes to offer care fee planning advice must be able to prove competence in that area. One of teh ways will be for him or her to have sat and passed teh relevant examination (CF8). As only about 1% of advisers have done so to date, there are few of us around. If you, or your relative, need care fee planning advice, make sure your adviser has CF8 as a minimum.

08/11/2006: `Rip-off' Commissions

A piece appeared in the Telegraph on Sunday (5th November 2006) about some life assurance companies paying high commissions to attract pension business from advisers. Whether it is true or not (and the author has not conducted any research on the story, clients can avoid commission payments by opting for fee based advice. Much fairer all round and you will know for what you are being charged.
